Our fifth day in Japan was bitterly cold and, reluctant as we were to drag ourselves away from our cosy home and its underfloor heating, we finally ventured out. We opted to take the bus to visit the the Fureai-Kari Museum of Traditional Crafts in the Northern Higashiyama district. There we admired the traditional artistic skills used to create the museum's beautiful range of exhibits of all types in the cosy modern building. On such a quiet day the welcome we received from the museum's staff also helped to warm us.

By the time we exited the museum we were alarmed to see snow falling quickly and decided to head back home while the traffic was still moving well. As was our habit, we went to our local supermarket to marvel at the beautifully presented displays of fresh foods before choosing something delicious to take home for dinner.
